Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 10 or Grade 12
- Ability to read and write
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Be physically fit to perform cleaning duties
- Be willing to work shifts, weekends and public holidays
- Honest, reliable and responsible
- Ability to safely use cleaning chemicals and equipment
Added Advantages
The following will be an advantage:
- One year or more cleaning experience in a hospital or clinical environment
- Knowledge of infection prevention and control practices
Main Duties
Successful applicants will be responsible for:
- Cleaning wards, offices, bathrooms, corridors and hospital facilities
- Cleaning floors, walls, windows, furniture, beds, lockers and equipment
- Removing waste according to infection control procedures
- Cleaning kitchens, refrigerators and microwaves
- Washing dishes, cups and utensils
- Using cleaning chemicals and equipment safely
- Restocking soap, toilet paper and other consumables
- Collecting meals, beverages and clean linen
- Completing daily cleaning records and checklists
- Reporting maintenance problems and safety hazards
- Maintaining a clean and safe hospital environment
- Performing any other lawful duties assigned by supervisors
